The view that a transcendent absolute universal being resides within each individual is called ‘internal transcendentalism.’(25) Hwanin’s son, Hwanung, comes down from the heavenly world because he wants to live in the human world. And Hwanung wants to realize the ‘Ideology of Hongik Ingan’ on earth. This can be called ‘internal transcendentalism’, the internalization of transcendent divinity.(27) Let us look at internal transcendentalism in the orient. In Buddhism it refers to breaking away from suffering and obsession and reaching enlightenment. Additionally, Taoism pursues harmony with nature by following the Tao, Hinduism aims for the unity of Atman and Brahman.

인간성을 신성이나 동물성과 분리된 단절적인 것으로 보지 않고, 인간성 안에 일체가 하나로 융합되어 있는 것으로 간주하는 것이다.

Rather than viewing humanity as something separate from divinity or animality, it regards humanity as being fused together as one.

trans. ed. Ibid, 28.

The internal transcendentalism seen in the myth of Dangun summarizes the fundamental perspective of Eastern thought.
